R1 9th grade World Studies. We did a distance learning project w/ Disney's school. Then we flew there to celebrate the end and meet our digital friends. This was 1997 so pretty tech-advanced for the time! #INeLearn
#INeLearn A1 Mr. Shepherd’s US Government class at Frankfort High School. Participate in a lot of simulation to expose us to real life government situations. Never will forget the candidate simulation where commercials had to be filmed.
R1: In Spanish class my teachers fixed tons of food and had it on a buffet table but you could only get the food if you said it in Spanish. 😂 And we had to watch Que Pasa USA soap opera and translate it #inelearn 😎👩🏻💻❤️
A1: A sound production class in high school. We got to use professional studio equipment to make beats, record vocals, and learn how to master audio. Extremely fun and engaging. #INeLearn

I had a chemistry teacher in high school who would use an alternate personality known as Gustav to teach special lessons. The only difference between him and Gustav was a hat. Simple, but hilarious (and memorable). #inelearn

We would look at stocks & how the political climate at the time influenced them. He taught us about supply and demand & how it all connected to the GDP! I mean, he went out of his way for us to know these things before we left high school! #INeLearn

A3: When I taught 4th my Ss did an IN county project around the time the economy was really bad for businesses. They researched their country & we partnered with the IN department of tourism to help persuade people to travel to those counties and explore IN of a budget #inelearn

R3: One of my favorite lessons was teaching 4th grade. Ss chose a problem to solve in our community (problem based learned). One of the groups researched how to open a homeless shelter. They discussed the best location, cost, etc and came up with a plan to implement! #INeLearn

We finished the book Three Cups of Tea. We were working on critical thinking. I made students “butter tea” like the people in the book drank. They got to sit around the room, drink tea, & discuss/debate scenarios for which Pakistani village they would build a school. #INeLearn
Students still talk about it because they felt totally connected with the book and characters. They sat in circles like the village leaders did to discuss, evaluate, and defend their opinions. It wasn’t fancy, but it was impactful. It was a great end to the novel study. #INeLearn

High school physics teachers rock. To this day it’s the science I struggle with the most despite passing it in college, but my HS physics teacher hooked me & always made time to help me after school. I even did observation hours with him for grad school. #INeLearn boy I miss him
Yes! I will be working with a class in the spring to create catapults! Ss have been constructing a smaller prototype model but we will scale that up a notch for our “Spring Fling” #INeLearn
R3: I hope my 4th grade students remember Skyping with @mhoutswrites after IRA reading her book The Beef Princess so we could ask her our questions in person. I took the risk of asking her to Skype with us and am so glad I did. #INeLearn
R4: when Ss take and do calculations on their cars or the egg drop or whatever we did. Have students write about what they see. It’s not hard to get them to do something when they can see what is being done. #INeLearn

R4: We should focus on the standard’s big ideas, not the detailed materials. Example: You can teach theme through relevant, engaging material (text, visual, or audio) rather than only using boring, 100 yr old novels. #inelearn

A4 - a balance occurs naturally when there is a process that celebrates choice and an end product that is personal and authentic. Like a video. Much quiet and joyful focused work goes into the process and the learning is deep #INeLearn
R4: Teach a little content, have fun, ask them to make observations & ask questions. This is how I run my VR lessons and we have so much fun. I give quick formative assessments at the end & next class & they remember! #INeLearn

I'm in an elementary school, and we love @ClassDojo portfolios. Do an activity that parents see, and we project as the teacher approves activities so we see some of the parent comments to their kids right away. Kids LOVE it, and parents do too! #INeLearn

Good learning comes from those questions and scenarios that have more than one correct answer! Let the students think in a way that works for them. Learning can be messy, loud, and FUN! :-) #INeLearn

A7: You can change someone’s life or personality. In the long run, they may not remember every single fact, but their point of view may have changed because of a lesson you taught. Impacting lives is the goal of teaching. #inelearn

A8: I feel strongly that Ss need to connect w/ the world. Giving them experiences w/different places/cultures is critical to helping them be good global citizens. It develops empathy, understanding, and helps them see that despite differences, we have a lot in common. #INeLearn
Personally I talk about how I love Unicorns, Death Metal and Glitter. Students really seems to think that is weird.

R8: Honestly, less me and more them. I've got a senior student with some art skills who struggles in math. I pointed her to the Vi Hart videos the other day. Today she turned in a quiz covered with awesome math doodles and asked if we could make hexaflexagons in class. #inelearn
